2017 FISHING NEWS AWARDS

Fishing News is pleased to announce that the 2017 Fishing News Awards will be held in Aberdeen on the evening of Thursday, 25th May 2017, the day before the start of the Aberdeen Skipper Expo.

This event is dedicated to shining a spotlight on the achievements, expertise and innovation in the UK and Ireland’s commercial fishing industries during 2016.

Once again the Hilton Treetops Hotel, Aberdeen is our venue, and it promises to be a night to remember. The proceedings will be hosted by the comedian, impressionist and playwright Rory Bremner, who will MC the awards and provide after-dinner entertainment.

David Linkie, Editor, Fishing News: “The success of last year’s Fishing News Awards demonstrated the industry’s overarching support for its members, and highlighted the collective achievement of an industry whose strength is so much greater than its individual parts. It is, therefore, very important that both the individual and collective commitments shown by all sectors of the industry continue to be recognised and rewarded.

I am delighted that our awards have been extended for 2017 to include a new category – Independent Fresh Fish Retailer of the Year – bringing our total number of categories to 12. The ‘Fishing News Awards’ is very much a united team effort across the industry, in which one and all have an important role to play by putting forward your nominations for potential winners of our categories at the earliest possible opportunity.”

The Nomination Process

We are open to receive your nominations from Thursday, 13th October 2016 through to midnight of Friday, 17th February 2017, beyond which point we cannot accept further nominations.
